Now a days people are getting so many mails saying that you got a lot of money as a prize or banker what to share the money that is unclaimed.Don't believe in that no one will give you free money. They ask for your identity and social security numbers and start playing with them.Never believe in offers that come via mail and give your personal information.
Carry credit and debit cards that you use regularly and keep the remaining one's at home at a secure place.Close the bank accounts that you are not using.Break the credit cards who are expired and divide them into pieces such that numbers are not visible.Never give your social security numbers via email as there is a chance of hacking and getting the information.Do not believe in some one asking you to update personal information via email as no one will do like that and there are more formal ways to update your information and en quire in the bank about this kind of requests.
Don't give your personal information to some one over the phone and ask them to send all the details in written.
Dispose your garbage carefully and see that it is not having any of your important information and bank account numbers.
Buy a fire proof body and keep all your valuable certificate in them and protect them from accidents.
Using a federal mail collection point to post and collect mails is a good idea as they can not be tampered easily there and there won't be any security issues.

Beware of online scams.You will be getting mails saying that you one a huge lottery or indisposed cash is available in the account and you are chosen to share it.First they will ask for personal information and then ask for cash to process the things.They are big scams and ever expect some one will give you huge money free and it is a scam.Don't fall in that dirty hands.If your mail id is publicly available and i used to get at least two of this kind of mails per day.Ignore them and put them under spam.Have a protection software like internet security suite and update it regularly to protect your computer from thefts.Use different passwords for different accounts and you shall not use your birth date or social security number as a password.Be careful about choosing password and keep it in such a way that it can not be guessed by some one.
